Learn how to make this golden goop

These leprechaun hats are made from dollar store flowerpots painted green. The belt is made of ribbon and gold paper.

Golden Goop

Glorious Golden Goop! This delightful activity will leave your guests with some golden putty to bring home.

Ingredients
5 oz. bottle of Elmer’s Clear School Glue
2 TB Colorations Gold Liquid Watercolor
1/2 cup (4 oz. or 8 TB) of Sta-Flo Liquid Starch
We had difficulty finding the liquid starch locally, but found it easily on Amazon
Directions
1. Place all of the clear glue into a bowl or cup.
2. Add the gold watercolor to the glue. Be sure to stir it in completely before the next step.
3. Shake the liquid starch bottle to make sure nothing’s settled to the bottom.
4. Pour HALF (about 1/4 cup) of the liquid starch into the glue, then stir very well.
5. Add half of the remaining liquid starch (about 1/8 cup) to the mixture and stir well.
6. Add the remaining liquid starch and keep on mixin’.
7. Knead the mixture using hands. It will feel like thick pudding at first. As kneading progresses, it will transform! After kneading for a minute, check the stickiness and stretchiness of the slime.  Knead for another minute if necessary, but don’t over-knead.
8. If need be, add another tablespoon of liquid starch to the slime and knead for another minute or two.

Thanks to Fun-A-Day for the recipe!

Cascading Rainbow

Create a cascading rainbow to add a magical flare to your dining experience!

Cut a series of circles of decreasing sizes in rainbow colors.

Use a silihoute or cookie cutters to get precise circles
Tape the circles to some twine and hang the strands from the ceiling.

A beautiful rainbow focal piece!

Shamrock Flags

Hang some festive flags around the room to create a St.Patrick’s day spirit!

Cut out some flag shapes from old newspapers or an unwanted book.

We used an outdated travel guide

String them up with some twine and you're done!

Treasure Hunt

Send your guests on a thrilling hunt for gold (or candy)!

Cut some pieces of yarn of different colors, one for each guest. Loop a key onto the yarn and tie one end of the string to the house.

Trail the other end through the yard and around a treasure chest, hidden somewhere.

Be sure to weave the trails so that they cross one another in elaborate paths.
Note the criss-crossing pattern. (Bonus doggy!)
When it gets dark, give each guest a lantern and a piece of yarn.

Glow-stick bracelets and dollar store lanterns help light the way in the dark
Each person threads their key through the tangle of yarn to their treasure chest.

Golden candy as a reward!

Balloon Race

An exciting balloon racing game!

Tape a straw to a balloon and thread a piece of string through it.

Decorate the straws with fun St. Patrick’s Day images.
Tie one end of the string to an anchor point (we used cabinet handles).

Inflate the balloon but don’t tie it off!
Line your guests up and on the count of three, release the balloons!

First one to the end of the string wins!
